Three South Ayrshire schools recently received glowing inspection reports from Education Scotland.
A team of inspectors visited Girvan Academy, Muirhead Primary School and Early Years Centre, and Sacred Heart Primary School and Early Years Centre between November 2023 and January 2024. They talked to parents, carers, and children, and worked closely with the head teachers and staff members.
Girvan Academy’s report praised the strong leadership of the headteacher and supporting staff, the positive culture of learning across the school and young people’s attainment. They were also impressed with the comprehensive system for tracking young people’s progress in curriculum across all year groups.
The inspection team were delighted with the positive and respectful relationships between staff and children at Muirhead Primary School and Early Years Centre. Their report stated that a key strength for the school was the effective leadership provided by the headteacher, and the interesting learning experiences provided by teachers is positively impacting children’s progress.
At Sacred Heart Primary School and Early Years Centre, inspection officers were impressed with how children are building their confidence and skills by taking part in a wide range of clubs, committees and groups. They praised the nurturing culture that underpins all relationships in the school, and the teamwork demonstrated by the headteacher and staff.
Education Scotland is a Scottish Government executive agency charged with supporting quality and improvement in Scottish education, and securing the delivery of better learning experiences and outcomes for Scottish learners of all ages.
