I am getting in touch with a short update on the emergency repair to a damaged sewer in Bentinck Drive, Troon.
Over the weekend, our delivery partner George Leslie made good progress excavating the damaged section of carriageway. We believe the visible road damage was caused by an issue with the gullies not being sealed to the sewer. They will be replaced and sealed. However, we suspect that there is still damage within the sewer and we are arranging more CCTV to assess any further damage and necessary remedial work.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from tomorrow, Tuesday 28 May, to ensure safe access to a manhole at the junction of Bentinck and Victoria Drive. Safety is paramount, and this is vital to ensure the safety of the public and our workers. A vactor will be on site to lower the water levels within the sewer and help the team have better visibility.
Bentinck Drive will remain closed between Dallas Place and Victoria Drive, with local diversions in place.
We thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we work to assess the damage.
We hope to share more information on timescales and the full extent of works as soon as possible.
Meantime, please be assured that we continue to keep event planners of the Open Championship at Royal Troon in July updated.
