Communities ready to discuss a different democratic future Join the Democracy Matters Conversation

13 September, 2023

It’s been a fortnight since the second phase of Democracy Matters was launched by ministers and the COSLA presidential team at Linlithgow Community Development Trust.

We’ve already had a fantastic response with people telling us about the conversations they plan to have in their communities and the ambitious changes they want to see happen as a result.

Whether at the launch event or at the Development Trust Association Scotland Conference, it’s clear that communities across the country are already buzzing with ideas and are ready to get together to imagine a different democratic future.

For those new to the process we’ve written a wee blog about what happened during the first phase and our vision this time around. As you’ll see, equalities and participation were at the heart of phase one and will be again because democracy matters to everyone and no voice should be left unheard or disregarded.

We’ll be sending you these newsletters regularly throughout this second phase updating you on the trends and great stories that emerge.

For more information and accessible materials to help you host your community conversation head to our website. You can also access financial support for your Democracy Matters conversation

As ever if you have any questions about the engagement process don’t hesitate to drop us a line at democracymatters@gov.scot.

Best Wishes

Democracy Matters Team
