A number of spaces have become available on the Teams training which is scheduled for tomorrow.
Description
This course provides an introduction to Child Protection and will assist practitioners in gaining an understanding of key child protection themes, including definitions of abuse and the possible signs and symptoms of harm.
Participants will explore values and attitudes surrounding the care of children and develop an understanding of the key legislative frameworks which shape practice in the promotion, support and safeguarding of Children at Risk of Harm. Practitioners will develop confidence in reporting and sharing Child Protection concerns in line with local Child Protection procedures.
Learning OutcomesDevelop an understanding of definitions of abuse
- Explore values and attitudes surrounding the care of children
- Increase confidence in exploring possible signs and symptoms of harm
- Identify effective communication with children
- Gain an awareness of the protection of children and our role in responding
Who Should attend?
This course is aimed at all staff who require a basic understanding of Child Protection.

This is a half day virtual session delivered via Microsoft Teams.

School closures – Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 September 2023 !
As a result of national industrial action, all South Ayrshire Council operated primary and secondary schools, along with Invergarven and Southcraig schools, will be closed to pupils on Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 September 2023.
For families of pupils who are eligible to receive means tested free school meals, and have completed an application for this, a payment of £2.50, per pupil, per day, will be made to the main parent/carer to help meet the costs of meals during the closures.
The following standalone early years centres will be open and will operate as normal during the forthcoming three days of strikes:
• Cherry Tree Early Years Centre
• Space Place Early Years Centre
• Wallacetown Early Years Centre
All schools will return to operating as normal on Friday 29 September 2023.

The exhibition provides a unique insight into the personal, powerful and transformative stories of people with lived experience often through the lens of exclusion, stigma, stereotypes and immense personal strength.There will be an opportunity to watch a live art demonstration, create art of your own, enjoy a family friendly mindful activity and visit a pop up living room. It’s not to be missed!
