UPDATE: COLLAPSED SEWER, BENTINCK DRIVE, TROON
I am writing with a further update for you on our ongoing works to address defects in the sewer running beneath Bentinck Drive in Troon, South Ayrshire.
After completing our emergency repairs between Dallas Place and Victoria Drive, we carried out further CCTV surveys of the egg brick pipe and have identified another section that requires attention.
Bentinck Drive will remain closed to through traffic between Dallas Place and Dallas Lane for up to eight weeks while we carry out the work. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained.
We are currently reviewing the results of the CCTV sewer survey in detail, however early indications suggest the pipe is generally in good condition. Should we find any major defects requiring urgent attention we will of course let you know and contact customers directly.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding while we complete this essential work.

Ageing Well Strategy and Action Plan Launch Event
Over 120 people joined us at The Gaiety Theatre Ayr to officially launch the new South Ayrshire Ageing Well Strategy and Action Plan on Tuesday 10 September. South Ayrshire have been working with communities to help tackle the issues associated with the area’s ageing population, which is the fastest in Scotland. This event was an opportunity to bring together key people who helped develop the strategy which kick starts this social movement, including members of staff from community planning, subject experts from across Scotland, as well as community members who have played an active role in both developing and reviewing the planned actions being taken forward.
Find out more about this strategy and the launch by clicking here.
We are also excited to share our Ageing Well video, developed in collaboration with The Iris Ayr. The video showcases South Ayrshire’s commitment to supporting its ageing population in leading healthy, active, and fulfilling lives. The video features testimonials from residents who share their experiences with activities and services such as fitness classes, social clubs and support groups. The film emphasises the importance of staying connected, active and engaged.
